Onboard network setup
As part of the ongoing need for high frequent data and the therewith belonging digitalization of the VAF digital onboard data collection system and sensors, a new on board hardware setup is available. It is nowadays possible to connect several of the VAF equipment inside an on board VAF dedicated LAN network underneath a VAF IPC high frequent data collection box. On request this VAF network can be separated from the rest of the ships OT and IT network for additional security.

The VAF IPC data collection box can, next to collecting data, also serve as the remote access point to the VAF on board LAN network. This on board setup allows now for remote access from the VAF head office to the on board VAF equipment for remote diagnostics.

Once this remote onboard diagnostics is in place there are several advantages present:

• Remote health checks of the VAF equipment (instead of travel in a service engineer)
• Remote software and settings updates of the VAF equipment
• Remote zero settings and calibrations

Connected equipment data in the cloud
The use of the VAF IVY® propulsion performance monitoring solution for collecting the onboard high frequent data to the cloud, provides next to vessel performance analysis also the possibility for permanent remote VAF sensor and equipment health checks. Via the data transfer from ship to cloud, VAF equipment is also sending status reports and logs of the VAF equipment. This data, reports and logs provides information on the health and status of the onboard VAF sensors and equipment, which can be analysed at the office of VAF on behalf of the customer and/or by the customer itself.

Via the VAF connected digital solutions a new level of remote diagnostics is created which supports an optimum performance of the vessels propulsion performance monitoring and data quality.
